The Wonder 500™ Certified Product Details
Mr. Kameta is from the town of Namie in Fukushima prefecture. Since his family specializes in the traditional craft of Souma-yaki pottery, he was brought up amidst pottery from the time he was small. Production was temporarily stopped due to the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, but today he has moved to Oita prefecture where he has found new clay and is daily carefully creating pieces. This piece, with a foot pedestal, was originally created to hold offerings to the gods. It possesses a sense of the humble Japanese character, and is a distinguished piece that will bring enjoyment even when used as an everyday utensil to serve foods. The pleasant appearance featuring a transparent, glossy surface adds a beautiful presence to any room that also greatly enhances any space as a decorative piece.
