Sometsuke Monyo Sara (Patterned blue and white porcelain dishes)

Koimari is traditional pottery that has been made in Japan since around the 17th century. It is notable for the depiction of plants and animals from the four seasons adorning the entire surface. Mr. Yoshida enthusiastically researched the
patterns focusing on early Imari especially. Koimari that echo the appearance of the tiny plants and animals and changing seasons give these dishes a rich expression. The pieces, which are carefully painted using only shades of blue pigment, result from the Japanese appreciation of the subtleties of nature passed down through generations. The attentively crafted, gentle designs differ on every plate and have a beauty that inspires collection. They are also a great accent to any table.
